Bloomingdale
Branch of the New York Public Library
The Bloomingdale Regional Library is bright,
spacious, fully wheelchair accessible and houses a comprehensive general reference
collection and collections for adults and teenagers for borrowing on the ground floor. The
children's collection shares the second floor with an auditorium used for library programs
and community meetings.
Bloomingdale School of Music
The Bloomingdale School of Music offers
high-quality music services at reasonable cost to the people of the Upper West Side. To
that end, the school offers a broad program of private music instruction, classes,
community outreach projects, ensembles, and concerts.
Broadway
Mall Association
This organization, composed of
residents, merchants and property owners who are concerned with the beauty
and livability of their neighborhoods, have taken it upon themselves, with
the assistance of New York City's Parks Department, to become responsible
for planting new shrubs and flowers and maintaining and transforming all the
Malls.
Citizens Committee for
New York City
The Committee encourages and supports volunteer action that
improves the quality of life in New York City's neighborhoods. The Committee provides vital support for
the more than 12,000 volunteer community groups and hundreds of thousands of volunteers
throughout the city. Every year, the
Committee provides hundreds of small grants, as well as practical skills training,
self-help materials, special program initiatives and hands-on support for thousands of
neighborhood leaders.

Columbus/Amsterdam
Business Improvement District (BID)
The BID was created to increase
commercial activity and create a more vital and active business center
along Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues from 96th to 110th street by
providing services and initiating capital improvements to make the
neighborhood cleaner, safer and more prosperous. View the area's social

Community Board 7
The Community Board makes recommendations on
land use, zoning matters, and NY City budget issues by holding public hearings and working
with community groups and individual constituents. Board 7 assists Upper West Side
residents and businesses with their concerns regarding municipal service delivery and many
other matters relating to the community's welfare.
El
Taller Latino Americano
El Taller is an arts and education
organization, founded in 1979 by Latin and North Americans to afford
opportunities for artistic expression and the exchange of ideas and
experiences between people of different cultures. They offer
conversational Spanish classes, plus art exhibits, Latin and world music,
salsa and tango dance classes, and more. Visit them at the corner of 104th
and Broadway or check out their web site to see what's happening. Be sure
to look up and see the colorful display in their big picture windows
overlooking Broadway!
Harlem
Open Artists Studio Tour
The Harlem Open Artist Studio Tour (H.O.A.S.T.)
is a community-based arts organization that was established in 2004. Their
mission is to foster artistic expression by uniting and promoting the
visual artists of Harlem and to strengthen the community by stimulating
awareness of the contemporary arts movement. Block resident, Asia
Ingalls, is a featured artist.
Hudson
Beach Cafe
Hudson Beach Café can be accessed
by way of 103rd Street and Riverside Drive. It is a casual, family
orientated, split level outdoor restaurant. The upper level surprises
patrons with a breathtaking view (particularly at sunset) of the Hudson
River and the New Jersey shoreline. The lower level supplies similar views
along with a birds-eye-view of the local beach volleyball, soccer and
softball teams and traveling
rings. A definite must on weekends and early evenings. Each level
is equipped with its own bar and B.B.Q. grill. Live music adds to the relaxing atmosphere.

Humphrey Bogart Place
In 2006, West 103rd Street between
Broadway and West End Avenue was given the secondary name Humphrey Bogart
Place. Read

Landmark West!
A non-profit community group working to
preserve the best of the Upper West Side's architectural heritage from 59th to 110th
Streets between Central Park West and Riverside Drive. Since 1985 it has worked to achieve
landmark status for individual buildings and historic districts.

Manhattan
School of Music
MSM is one of the premier private music conservatories in the nation, with
nearly 275 faculty members dedicated to shaping over 800 students from 40
countries into world-class musicians.

New
York City Subway System
An unofficial web site on the history of city subway systems around the
world. Chock full of info for both the train buff and the City

New York Festival of Song
Steven Blier, a co-artistic director of
NYFOS, lives on our block. Jeff Miller, the chairman of the board,
also lives on the block.
Nicholas Roerich Museum
A major center for the exhibition of paintings by Nicholas Roerich. Also a cultural
center, presenting a broad program of concerts and poetry readings.
NYCDOG: New York Council of Dog Owner Groups
Dedicated to improving our communities by
promoting the establishment and maintenance of humane off leash recreation opportunities,
responsible dog ownership and respectful park stewardship.

Oldstreets.com helps you identify Manhattan locations mentioned in old
books, articles, and documents relating to New York City. It contains more
than 1,600 old names of streets and other urban features that are no
longer on the map. The site was compiled and annotated by block resident,

119th
Street Tennis Association
The 10 hard courts at 119th St. in
Riverside Park are open to the public and under jurisdiction of The New York City
Department of Parks & Recreation. The Courts are open for play 7 days a week,
usually from
mid-April until early December.
Partnerships for Parks
An initiative of the the City Parks Foundation and the City's Parks department,
Partnership's mission is to spur more community support for and involvement in New York
City's parks.
Riverside
Clay Tennis Association

Riverside Park are open to the public and under the jurisdiction of The New York City
Department of Parks & Recreation. The Courts are open for play 7 days a week,
usually from
mid-April until early December.

Park Fund
The Fund's mission is to preserve and improve New York’s classic
waterfront green space.
Straus Park
Straus Park is a charming little park in our neighborhood
at Broadway and 106th St. designed in memory of Ida and Isidor Straus,
victims of the Titanic. A beautiful reclining lady, a statue by Augustus
Lukeman, overlooks a birdbath reflecting pool, surrounded by lush central
gardens kept up by a private gardener. Friends of Straus Park, a
not-for-profit organization run by dedicated volunteers, makes sure that
this very special place on the Upper West Side is thriving, and regular

Supermud
Pottery Studio
Started in 1979, Supermud is a resource for unique gifts,
pottery instruction, clay parties, and paint bar.
Symphony
Space
Our very own world-class cultural center at the corner of 95th St. and
Broadway celebrates 25 years of music, literature, film, and dance in the
2002-2003 season.
Traveling
rings, Riverside Park
Traveling rings are outdoor physical fitness equipment that provide
enjoyable and challenging exercise for the whole body. Riverside Park has
two sets of rings: one for adults and one for juniors. Located next to the
Hudson Beach Cafe, where you can also play beach and "pavement"
volleyball and walk the slackline (an impromptu activity).
Westside
Crime Prevention Program
An independent community-based organization
that seeks to make the Upper West Side of Manhattan a safe place for everyone
who lives, works, and goes to school here.
