Riverside-West End Historic District Extension II Stalled

By Lynn Max – Board Member of the West 104th Street Block Association Board

The designation of the Riverside-West End Historic District Extension from 70th Street to 109th Street was to be voted on by the Landmark Preservation Commission in three segments. The two southern districts have already been approved, but the last section, 89th to 109th Streets, has not even been calendared for a vote. Already developers are buying property and threatening to either demolish or significantly alter buildings in our neighborhood.

We must act now to preserve our beautiful architecture and the history of our community.

Sample Email:I live on the Upper West Side and I support the vote to designate the Riverside-West End Historic District Extension II. Our buildings and our beautiful avenue are threatened. Please move this forward immediately before it’s too late!
